On February 23, 2017, a tractor-trailer truck crashed on Route 22 in the Lehigh Valley. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation there were no personal injuries reported. Local Route 22 traffic was limited to the left lane near Allentown. Lehigh Valley highway traffic was slowed at the 15th Street interchange. The blue tractor-trailer truck landed on its side after the accident. The truck was removed at 10:23 a.m. and Route 22 highway traffic was restored to normal by 10:30 a.m.
Palmer Township police originally seized a Mazda car in relation hit-and-run accident that killed pedestrian Zakaiyah Halley on February 8, 2017. Palmer police stated that after a thorough investigation, the Mazda 6 has been ruled out of any involvement with the Easton car accident. Investigators now believe it may have been a Chevrolet Impala that struck Ms. Halley on Route 248 as she attempted to cross the highway.
